in which i click clack away with my fingers correctly posed above the homekeys

so no one really ever wants to talk about things they do well
cause that would be boastful
and bragging
and not humble at all
and well who likes that person
i don't usually
but still sometimes don't you ever stop yourself in the middle of something and say hmmm not bad old girl
well i certainly don't
the old girl part...
but the first part...well sometimes i do...
and yesterday i impressed myself with something
i was at work
working
cause that's what i do at work
all day
...
ok but really and i was typing away...
like i do all day
at work
and i realized that i couldn't think of the last time i had looked at the keyboard
or at the screen
(i was copying a document into word)
so i stopped and looked over
and in a page of typing there was only a small smattering of squiggly lines under what i had typed...and ya'll i wasn't typing little mini words...the word facsimile appeared at least seven times and communication...try that one without looking...your hands are all over the place..
but i digress
my point is i am not a bad typer
i mean typist...
and didn't even take heyboarding in hs!
now i realize i am admitting this to the blog-o-sphere
in which, well, we all type...A LOT
but i still irl know more than a handful of hunters (one finger hovered above the keyboard, eyes locked on, hunting for the right key)
one of the lawyers i work for, i know when he is busy cause i can hear the steady clack clack clack of him hitting the key as hard as his pointer fingers can, as he uses two fingers to write long legal documents!

so anyways...
i type good
that's the point...
what do you do good?
(yes, i know well is the appropriate word to be using...but i don't want to!)

in which i do something i did last year too

watching your child/children grow up is one of those things that makes your heart feel like it is breaking and swelling with love all at the same time
and yes i realize sometimes that is just the heartburn i have had since i was prego with the girl child
but other times it's cause she is sheer awesome wonderfulness with her perfcectly smushy cheeks that are perfect for smushy cheek kisses and her smarty smart pants and hilarious-ness
seriously she is all that and a bag of chips
and so whenever she has a growing up milestone i try to take a chance to reflect...
last year i did it by writing a letter to aubs on her bday, you can read it here
i did it again this year and thought i would share
so without delay here you are:

Dear Aubrey,
Right now you have this thing, for whatever reason, where you get shy when people talk to you. And it doesn’t matter if it is the sweetest waitress ever at Old Country Buffet who wanted to know all about your birthday party plans or if it is Grandpa some days. When you get shy you look away when you are talking to them and often you look at me. I like to think you do this because you feel confident in me and how I feel about you. When you do this I always encourage you to look at who’s talking to you but in my head I am screaming at you saying:
“Aubrey, you are fabulous, fantastic, enthralling, and amazing. Everyone wants to hear about your day, what you ate for lunch, and what you think of the little girl who sat next to you at lunch! They want to know your opinion on the color pink, bubbles, and the newest Disney Channel show. Your views on the state of your messy room or the dinner you are eating are equally scintillating. And that doesn’t even cover all we/I/they want to know about! And do you know why we want to know? Because of you!”
Aub’s you are a great kid. You are a smart kid. A talented and hilarious kid. A loving and caring kid. Sensitive to others and able to empathize even at this young age. You amaze me daily. Even when you drive me crazy with your grumpy self!

Life is pretty complicated right now, but you take everything in strides and I am so glad you are able to do that. I think you know that there are so many people that love you. And despite all the complications that is what it still boils down to, there are just so many people who love you!

Dear daughter, I love you and wish you an amazing seventh year. Filled with new experiences and challenges and plenty of love and confidence.

Love, Mommy

in which i explain about the melting pot aspects of the 4th o'July

america:
land of the free
and home of the brave
and pinatas...
okay well maybe not
technically
but we are the melting pot
so pinatas are TOTALLY welcome all up in here

so anyways...pinatas, i found this great  tutorial for paperbag pinatas
it is an inexpensive and really pretty easy way to create something to...oh or fill with leftover candy from the extra goody bags from you kiddos bday party that was two weeks ago...and the adorable 4th o July candy also!

Now, there are some things to consider..esp. if you do this on a patriotic holiday;
1. it's not kosher to have a flag as a pinata...just not respectful
2. ummm that might have been all

so anyways here is the one i whipped up in about 45 minutes for the neighborhood kids to celebrate with (by beating the crap out of-YAY American spirit)

HAPPY BIRTHDAY AMERICA!!

in which i tell you a funny and random story

when aubrey finished preschool they had a graduation ceremony thingy
i am never too impressed by those thingys...
they are for the parents really
so i guess that's nice
but just between you and me, i was pretty thankful her school didn't have one after kindergarten
but anyways back to the funny and random story
so all the kids got awards/superlatives...
you know like: most likely to come to school in their pajamas or best smile

aubrey was the recipient of miss honesty
i think that was their way of saying she was a big ol' tattle tale...

well aubrey has come a long way and i am proud to say that tonight at the pool when her and her friend got into a disagreement rather than coming and "being honest" she tried to work it out first! yay aubs!

even right now...
with it being the morning time and all
but seriously potato salad..
i like the yellow kind (with no onions)
and the red potato kind (with no onions and NO dill)

what i really wanted to talk about was things i like

i'm lazy on fridays so i am going to share what i have been looking at this week on the old world wide web-o-lah
